Asseco Arka Gdynia has been created in 1995, as a third-league team. What started as Trefl Sopot has gradually over the year been changing to Prokom Trefl Sopot, Asseco Prokom Sopot, Asseco Prokom Gdynia, Asseco Gdynia and Arka Gdynia. The team required only two years to advance to the top league, and in the 2000/2001 season has achieved the Polish Cup. That win allowed the club to compete on the international stage.

In the 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 seasons Asseco Arka Gdynia became the runner up Polish champion, whilst engagin in the international play, and in 2003 has been on of the final players for the FIBA Champion's Cup. In the 2003/2004 season Asseco Arka Gdynia has qualified for the quarterfinals of ULEB Cup and reached their first Polish National win. This is what allowed the team to attempt the Euroleague.


In the 2004/2005 and 2011/2012 seasons Asseco Arka Gdynia has represented our country in the European Champion's League. Four times have they advanced to the best 16 teams of that championship, the Top 16, and once we have managed a historical feat in Polish basketball - advancing to the top eigth European teams.

In the 2004-2012 period, Asseco Arka Gdynia achieved the Polish Champion title 9 times in a row. The club has become a well known brand not only in Poland, but across Europe.


Gdynia's team has been awarded by the Basketball Euroleague: in 2010 "Best Executive of the Year" and "Devotion Marketing Award", and again in 2011 "Devotion Marketing Award". Our club is famous for its top level management, whereas our professionalismy is appreciated by both coaches as well as players.
